Homes for Heroes
Homes for Heroes is a popular state and local program that targets teachers, firefighters, and other public service employees. This program focused on making homeownership more affordable, particularly for people looking to purchase in their local community.
NH Housing has a new Community Heroes Initiative, and eligible essential workers may receive a $3,000 closing cost credit when purchasing a single-family home through NH Housing Plus mortgage program. To find out if you qualify, reach out to one of our NH licensed loan officers.
To be eligible, you may need to meet the following requirements:
- Must be a first-time homebuyer
- Purchasing a single-family home
- Must meet income limit requirements
- Must be employed in eligible professions
Mass Housing offers mortgage financing through participating lenders like Mortgage Equity Partners, providing affordable financing for homebuyers to purchase a single-family home, condo, or investment property. There are income limits, and a homebuyer education class will be required. In addition, in some Massachusetts communities, down payment assistance programs are available, and the level of assistance has been increased.
To be eligible, you may need to meet the following requirements:
- Must meet income limits
- Many programs are for first-time homebuyers, but programs are available for repeat homebuyers in some cases
- Credit, Income, and other eligibility requirements also apply
- Some zero down payment programs are available
