Giving Back
Mortgage Equity Partners is a proud supporter of The Children’s Room. The Children’s Room has been providing caring support for grieving children, teens, and their families since 1993. Started by a passionate group of caregivers in a single room at Hospice West in Waltham, MA, The Children’s Room now has a permanent center in Arlington, MA, and serves almost 1,500 people annually.
The philosophy of The Children’s Room is based on Phyllis Silverman’s work on child bereavement, which looked at children grieving the death of a parent within their social and family systems. TCR’s commitment is that no child, family, or teen should have to grieve alone and because financial hardship often accompanies the loss of a parent, all services are offered free of charge. Charitable support from corporations and individuals is critically important for the continued success of TCR as they receive no federal funding.
The Children’s Room now serves almost 1,500 people annually through various programming with revenues increasing from $30,000 in 1993 to $1.2 million in 2020, making it the leading independent nonprofit child bereavement center in Massachusetts, meeting critical needs in communities throughout eastern Massachusetts.
The Children’s Room is an organization that is dear to Mortgage Equity Partners. Sean Riley, CEO, and founder of Mortgage Equity Partners, has personal experience with The Children’s Room and has been an avid supporter since 2013.
If you or someone you know needs free-to-all grief support services for children and their families, contact The Children’s Room to learn more. If you are interested in donating to this organization, all support is greatly appreciated.
